Biography
Angelo P. Tanna, M.D. is Vice Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Director of the Glaucoma Service at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He has been on the Northwestern faculty since 1999, involved with teaching medical students and residents, clinical research and patient care. Dr. Tanna received his medical degree at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1994. Afterwards, he completed his ophthalmology residency and glaucoma fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. Tanna has been actively involved within the ophthalmology and glaucoma communities with memberships in the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Glaucoma Society, for which he serves on the Board of Directors. He has been listed in Best Doctors in American from 2005-2010. He earned the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award in 2010.
Dr. Tanna's clinical research focuses on the efficacy and safety of glaucoma medications, the early detection of glaucoma, and the early detection of glaucoma progression. He has published 40 peer reviewed articles, abstracts and book chapters. He has been invited to give numerous lectures on the national and international level covering topics spanning from diagnostics and surgical techniques to medical therapy and adherence.
