Biography
Dr. Zhao is a cardiologist on staff at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and a member of the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. Her special interests include valvular heart disease, woman's heart disease, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure and echocardiography. She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and echocardiography.
Dr. Zhao is active in both clinical and basic research. She received her PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences in 1998 from Creighton University. Since then, she has received multiple travel grant awards from national medical associations. In 2006 and 2007, she received the Northwestern Young Investigator Award for her research. In 2008, she was awarded the prestigious Jay N. Cohn New Investigator Award from the Heart Failure Society of America.
Dr. Zhao is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and American Society of Echocardiography.
