Women & Cardiovascular Risk Factors (audio)

Subscribe to our Podcast

When the topic of women's health is raised, much of the research and advocacy is focused on breast cancer, which is serious, but is far from the leading cause of death in women.

The leading cause belongs to cardiovascular disease. The risk of a woman dying from a form of cardiovascular disease known as coronary artery disease, is twice the number of all cancer deaths combined. Marla Mendelson, MD, director of the Center for Women’s Cardiovascular Health at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, helps us understand how heart disease kills, the subtle early symptoms, treatment options, risk factors, and preventative measures associated with cardiovascular disease in women.
