Overview
Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine are leading regional and national resources for mental healthcare, delivering both innovative and personalized care to patients with a wide variety of mental disorders. We bring new and promising treatments to patients in the hospital and in outpatient settings through novel research.
At Northwestern Memorial’s Stone Institute of Psychiatry, our clinical team provides skilled and empathetic care to the individual patient while addressing the full spectrum of mental health needs. Our new 29-bed inpatient unit in the heart of the medical campus supports a contemporary approach to psychiatric care in the hospital setting. For more information on our inpatient unit, see the virtual tour.
Through the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Feinberg, translational and clinical research into the neurobiology of mental disorders is ongoing and these programs aim to improve our understanding of the underlying causes of disorders and to influence the development of new treatments.
Our multidisciplinary approach to mental health includes:
-
Expert care in the hospital and outpatient settings that benefits from evidence-based research
-
Training of the next generation of mental health researchers and clinicians through our training, ongoing education and fellowship programs
-
The opportunity for patients to enroll in clinical trials that offer the promise of new and better treatments
