Treatment Approach and Clinical Services
Through our program, we work with people who have eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia and emotional overeating.
Our team of clinical psychologists, who are all faculty members at Northwestern University, use a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques to help patients understand the underlying causes and meaning of their symptoms. The goal of treatment is to replace destructive patterns and behaviors with healthy strategies for maintaining a balanced and rewarding life.
Treatment plans
An individually-tailored treatment plan, which is based on assessment of both strengths and difficulties, may include the following components:
- Individual psychotherapy
- Family therapy
- Referral to nutritional consultation, group therapy and psychiatric services
