Heart transplant volume
A heart transplant involves surgically removing one person’s malfunctioning heart and replacing it with a heart from a deceased organ donor.
Studies suggest that when a hospital performs a high volume of heart transplants, the patient’s survival rate and the graft survival rate are higher.
About this measure
This measure displays the number of heart transplants the hospital performed in 2011. Since the beginning of the Heart Transplant program in 2005, we have performed approximately 137 heart transplants.
