The descriptions for this measure come from source: www.leapfroggroup.org.

“Patients being treated for a heart attack should choose a hospital that follows the recommended processes of care and also provides the appropriate care at a low cost.”

About this measure

The Leapfrog Group scores heart attack care by combining data on five proven interventions which are important for care of a patient with a heart attack along with a measure of cost (number of days a patient is in the hospital for this condition, on average).  Scores are reported as:

1 = Willing to Report
2 = Some Progress
3 = Substantial Progress
4 = Fully Meets Standards

Note: In this measure, a higher number is better.
