Patients should choose a hospital that has a small number of patients that are injured during their hospital stay. Possible injuries include falls, fractures, and burns. Injuries which occur during a hospitalization are often preventable.
About this measure
The Leapfrog Group scores reduction in hospital injuries based on the rate of this complication per 1000 patient days. Scores are reported as:
1 = Willing to Report
2 = Some Progress
3 = Substantial Progress
4 = Fully Meets Standards
Note: In this measure, a higher number is better.
