Organ Transplantation
Organ transplant is the surgical replacement of one diseased or malfunctioning organ with a new organ or partial organ from a donor. Transplant also includes bone marrow transplants. Sometimes donors are living, and sometimes they are deceased. Northwestern Memorial has the largest living kidney donor program in the United States and the highest volume heart transplant program in Illinois.
We strive to provide high quality healthcare to all of our patients. In an effort to reach our goal of The Best Patient Experience, we collect data about our patients, their treatments and their outcomes. This data helps us to understand what we’re doing that is working and where we might need to improve our practices for the best possible patient outcomes.
Our organ transplant quality measures are:
Volume
Outcome
Heart Transplant
- Heart transplant - graft survival at one year after transplant
- Heart transplant - patient survival at one year after transplant
- Survival curve for heart transplantation program
- LVAD as bridge to transplant survival
Kidney-Pancreas Transplant
- Kidney-pancreas transplant - kidney graft survival at one year after transplant
- Kidney-pancreas transplant - pancreas graft survival at one year after transplant
- Kidney-pancreas transplant - patient survival at one year after transplant
Kidney Transplant
- Kidney transplant - graft survival at one year after transplant
- Kidney transplant - patient survival at one year after transplant
Liver Transplant
- Liver transplant - graft survival at one year after transplant
