Percent emergency department patients that left against medical advice (AMA)

Patients who enter the emergency department for treatment sometimes decide to leave before being seen by a doctor or before their treatment is complete. Patients may also leave against the advice of the physician.

This measure tracks the percentage of patients in the emergency department who decided to discontinue their care or left against medical advice.
