Pneumonia Care
Pneumonia is an infection in one or both lungs that causes them to fill up with fluid or pus. It causes symptoms like coughing, fever, chills and trouble breathing.
Because pneumonia is a leading cause of death in the United States, we track many statistics regarding pneumonia and its care in order to make sure we are doing everything we can to treat it in the best way possible.
Our quality measures relating to pneumonia are (some may fall into more than one category):
Outcome
- Pneumonia mortality rate (AHRQ)
- Death from any cause within 30 days of hospitalization for pneumonia
- 30-day readmission rate for pneumonia
- Pneumonia following vascular or general surgery
