About this measure
The Leapfrog Group scores Pneumonia care by combining data on four proven interventions which are important for care of a patient with pneumonia, along with a measure of cost (number of days a patient is in the hospital for this condition, on average). The interventions include: pneumonia vaccine, influenza vaccine, timely blood draw and timely administration of antibiotics. Scores are reported as:
1 = Willing to Report
2 = Some Progress
3 = Substantial Progress
4 = Fully Meets Standards
Note: In this case, a higher number is better.
