Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses pulsed radio frequency and magnets to create images used for screening and diagnosis.
To detect problems with blood vessels and blood flow, Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA), is also available.
For cardiac, neurologic, orthopaedic and full-body scanning, Northwestern's MRI Service offers highly advanced MRI equipment including teh Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra 3T™ and the MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T™. The Skyra and Aera™ feature a powerful whole-body magnet that can produce clear images quickly, so you don't need to worry about your movements blurring the image. Clearer images mean quicker, more precise diagnoses, even for challenging diseases and conditions such as:
- Stroke
- Brain diseases
- Vascular diseases
- Spinal cord injuries
- Joint injuries
- Liver diseases
- Prostate cancer
- Disc herniation
- Heart disease
