Overview
Acute care rehabilitation services include physical therapy and occupational therapy. These services are provided in the patient’s room following surgery or illness. Our licensed physical and occupational therapists use a variety of treatments to help patients return to their highest level of function possible. They provide compassionate care that is proven effective, helping patients:
- Restore function
- Prevent complications
- Prevent further decline
- Coordinate care among different providers
- Transition and plan for leaving the hospital
Patients from any service area of Northwestern Memorial Hospital are eligible for treatment.

Inpatient rehabilitation services are provided 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with limited coverage on weekends. The Rehabilitation Services department is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
