Smoking Cessation Services Available
The smoking cessation program at the Northwestern Integrative Medicine is led by a registered nurse with over 25 years of experience and based on the most current and proven methods.
Group Program
The group program can significantly increase your likelihood for long-term success. Learning from others in the group helps to "normalize" the withdrawal process and provide support. The group meets one hour a week for eight weeks. For more information or to register, call 1-877-926-4NMH (4664).
Discussions include:
- Establishing a quit date
- Behavior modification approaches
- Nicotine replacement therapy
- Zyban® (bupropion) use
- Chantix® (varenicline) use
- Self-help practices: relaxation, stress management, nutrition and exercise guidelines
Individual Program
The individual program is a one-on-one session with our smoking cessation specialist. Initial appointments are one hour, and follow-up appointments are also available. For more information or to register, please call 312-926-2069.
Medication Programs
Seven Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medications have been scientifically proven to at least double the success rate of quitting smoking. These medications are safe, have only minimal side effects and are free of more than 4,000 harmful substances contained in each cigarette.
Our smoking cessation specialist can help you identify the right therapy and coach you on behavior change techniques that can successfully break nicotine addiction. All our programs are offered monthly.
For more information on any of these programs, call Northwestern Integrative Medicine at 312-926-DOCS (3647).
