Support & Advocacy Groups for Stroke

Surviving a stroke can make you feel isolated and alone. The rehabilitation and recovery process, as well as the emotional toll both the stroke itself and surviving it can inflict, can impede your ability to seek solace and support from family and friends. It can also be challenging for caregivers.

Further, the impact of the stroke itself may prevent you from returning to the life you had before the stroke. That is why it is important to do what you can to find support.

Support Groups

A stroke support group can be a key part of your recovery. There are a number of good organizations with great resources for stroke survivors and caregivers, including:

The American Heart Association

The American Stroke Association

The National Stroke Association

The Internet Stroke Center

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)

The Brain Attack Coalition
