Tests
This malformation is diagnosed in the womb or soon after birth using the following tests:

Ultrasound before birth

Brain scans via computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Digital subtraction angiography (a test that uses x-rays and a special dye to see inside the arteries)
