Following the move to the new hospital, Passavant and Wesley Pavilions were slated for reuse as part of a comprehensive campus master plan. The Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center, being built on the site of Passavant Pavilion, will greatly expand biomedical research at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. Wesley's site will be home to a new women's hospital. Despite expansion and modernization of its current facilities, Prentice Women's Hospital and Maternity Center faces continued growth in patient volume: it is the largest birthing center in Illinois with over 8,000 deliveries last year. A new facility is vital to meeting the total healthcare needs of women, including a comprehensive array of obstetrical and gynecologic services.
In addition to developing an enhanced physical plan for the campus, Northwestern Memorial has built a new organizational vision. The hospital's strategic plan focuses on two primary goals: providing the "Best Patient Experience," and attracting, developing and retaining the "Best People." We're committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment, exceeding patients' expectations, and ensuring that our core values of integrity, "Patients First" philosophy, excellence and teamwork are shared by all.
