Program Structure
The Administrative Fellowship is a combination of institutionally structured rotations and Fellow-directed activities. The first year is spent rotating through core hospital operations, followed by an interim management role and self-directed project work. The operational rotations are designed to provide a combination of educational and experiential developmental opportunities. Each Fellow will formulate a tailored program to enhance practical management skills, augment his or her formal education and increase professional development opportunities.
Following the orientation, Foundations of an Academic Medical Center, each Fellow helps formulate a program tailored to his or her individual interests and needs that also serves to enhance practical management skills. Projects are selected from current organizational priorities, such as business development, strategic planning, hospital operations and community service.
Administrative Fellows are partnered with a mentor team comprised of a vice president, a director and the Administrative Fellowship program manager. The mentor team provides a mutually rewarding and satisfying experience for Administrative Fellows and members of Northwestern Memorial leadership by fostering a relationship between experienced leaders and those aspiring to leadership roles.
