The Clinical Research Office of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University supports clinical research in cancer and hematology.

Cardiac and Vascular Research
The Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute - Clinical Trial Unit of Northwestern conducts clinical trials on all aspects of heart and vascular disease.

Gastroenterology Studies

Department of Gastroenterology and Northwestern Center for Functional GI & Motility Disorders are conducting clinical research studies that examine the diverse aspects of functional gastrointestinal disorders, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Functional Dyspepsia, and studies that are looking for healthy control subjects. Genetics Research
Genetics is revolutionizing how medicine is practiced. You can contribute to this very exciting research in genetic medicine. The Center for Genetic Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine is collaborating with Northwestern-affiliated healthcare providers to establish a bank of DNA samples and associated health information. The study is called the NUgene Project. This resource will be used by university and worldwide researchers to facilitate research on genetics of common diseases and how to improve treatments.

The HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Unit at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine conducts clinical research studies for the treatment of HIV infection and opportunistic diseases related to HIV/AIDS.

Non-Insulin Dependent Diabetes
Do you have diabetes that does not require insulin treatment? Diabetes is a condition that causes the body to have difficulty controlling blood sugar. Many patients with diabetes may be unaware that they are at increased risk of developing atherosclerosis (when blood vessels become clogged with fatty matter and reduce the flow of blood). Atherosclerosis may eventually lead to many life-threatening complications such as heart attacks and stroke. (more)

Pregnancy Studies
The Maternal-Fetal Department conducts various research studies to learn more about healthy pregnancies for healthy babies.

Sleep Studies

Women's Health - Hot Flashes
Are you experiencing hot flashes? Northwestern University is conducting a research study to determine if black cohosh and red clover are effective in reducing hot flashes. We are looking for healthy menopausal women with a significant number of hot flashes. The study is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health and lasts one year. Monthly visits are required for one year. The study is done at no medical cost to you and compensation for participation is provided. Please call (312) 926-8400 to learn more.
