Boogie Ball Press Party

The Woman's Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Ralph Lauren Host "Boogie Ball Press Party"

On February 2, 2006, The Woman's Board of Northwestern Memorial Hospital held its "2006 Boogie Ball Press Party," with the help of Ralph Lauren and his eponymous store  This unique fundraiser, attended by 180 guests, supported the Comprehensive Support Program for Brain Tumor Patients and Families at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The Press Party is a precursor to the Boogie Ball, which will be held on May 6, 2006, with Jenner & Block LLP and McDonald's Corporation as major sponsors. Ralph Lauren hosted the Press Party, an elegant cocktail reception and an opportunity for guests to shop for charity at the Ralph Lauren store. The store's management generously donated 15 percent of the evening's proceeds to support the Woman's Board in its commitment to facilitating an innovative program developed by James P. Chandler, MD, surgical director of Neuro-Oncology Programs at Northwestern Memorial.  Dr. Chandler's program will assist brain tumor patients and their loved ones in navigating the numerous avenues of care available to them, including psychological and emotional support from a psychologist and a social worker, exposure to experimental treatment protocols, and assistance with alternative or complementary treatment modalities.

"Dr. Chandler's program is truly exceptional, in that it considers so many aspects of a brain tumor patient's experience," said Mary Grant, chairman of the press party. "We are extremely grateful to everyone who joined us tonight in showing their commitment to better assisting and supporting these brave patients and their families. We sincerely thank Ralph Lauren and the staff at RL for hosting our event. This is a wonderful way to build anticipation for the 2006 Boogie Ball."

The fourth annual "Boogie Ball," the Woman's Board's annual gala event, co-chaired by Elizabeth Coleman and Jennifer Dunne, will take place on May 6, 2006, at The Casino, located at 195 East Delaware Place in Chicago. The highlight of the raffle at this year's Boogie Ball will be a Tiffany & Co. white and gold diamond ladies' cocktail watch. Tickets for the event are $200 each, or $1,400 for eight.
