Those of us who live or work in Chicago know how fortunate we are to be part of a community that nurtures and sustains so many wonderful cultural and educational organizations. Yet, is there any other private institution in Chicago that enhances the lives of so many people, while contributing so much to making this a "livable city," as Northwestern Memorial? From being the "most preferred" hospital for delivering our children to being the preferred provider for medical services for ourselves, our families and our neighbors, Northwestern Memorial stands apart.
We now seek to build on the hospital's distinctive strengths. Enhancing our lives: The Northwestern Memorial Campaign will make possible major advances in patient care, research, graduate medical education and community service. The most visible outcome will be a new Prentice Women's Hospital. When it opens in 2007, it will place Chicago at the forefront of women's health care for the 21st century.
On Friday, October 15, 2004, Northwestern Memorial inaugurated Enhancing our lives: The Northwestern Memorial Campaign, at which time it was announced that over $105 million toward the goal of $150 million had been achieved. We ask that you join with us as partners in this ambitious endeavor. It is one that will enhance the lives of the people and communities of Chicago by ensuring their access to the highest quality medical care available anywhere in the world. That is an objective that demands the very best from each of us.
