The Northwestern Memorial School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography provides students with a comprehensive body of knowledge and skills and the opportunity for some of the finest clinical experiences. Each year approximately 35,000 imaging procedures are performed by the sections of general and OB/GYN ultrasound.
The 18-month program begins every July.

Mission Statement
The mission of the School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography is to
provide a comprehensive education that will prepare students to become
entry-level sonographers. The program is structured to provide
intellectual stimulation and learning in the didactic and clinical
settings using psychomotor, affective and cognitive domains. It is
necessary to prepare students to assume the responsibilities of a
sonographer, provide quality patient care and to contribute to their
profession by a commitment to professional organizations and life long
learning.
Goals
Although the primary goal of the program is to produce fully competent and knowledgeable sonographers, graduation is considered a beginning rather than an end. It is expected that with further experience and continuing education, the entry-level abilities achieved will continue to develop and expand.
