Curriculum
The 18-month clinical-based internship curriculum provides students with comprehensive body of knowledge and clinical education that includes instruction and experience in a variety of abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, superficial parts, and neurosonology exams and procedures:

  • Management and Methods of Patient Care
  • Fundamentals of Sonography
  • Abdomen Sonography
  • OB/GYN Sonography
  • Ultrasound Physics I and II
  • Pathophysiology
  • Sectional Anatomy for the Sonographer
  • Image Critique
  • Abdomen Pathology
  • OB-GYN Pathology
  • Introduction to Pediatric and Vascular Imaging
  • Specialty Sonography
  • Registry Review

Clinical Rotation
Students rotate clinical assignments between the Feinberg Pavilion general ultrasound department and the Prentice Women's Hospital OB/GYN ultrasound department. Special rotations may include Lynn Sage Breast Center, Interventional Radiology, Non-Invasive Vascular Lab and Children's Memorial Hospital ultrasound departments.

Please note that this program is for the education of sonographers and not for physician or residency training in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Program Hours
The program is scheduled for eight hours a day, five days per week.
