Pharmacy Post Graduate Year 1 Program - Rotations

The program begins with a two week orientation to review department policies and procedures, introduce the computer system, ACLS/BLS certification, drug information orientation and introduction to medication screening. There are five required rotations and elective rotations. Rotations last two to eight weeks, depending on resident's experience, goals and interests.

Required Rotations

  • Pharmacy Practice
    Introduces the responsibilities of a clinical pharmacist in a satellite pharmacy

  • Introductory Critical Care

  • Practice Management (chose two of the following)
    • Administration
    • Drug Information
    • Medication Safety
    • Product Management
    • Research

Elective Rotations
At the beginning of the year, residents coordinate preliminary schedules with fellow residents, preceptors and the program director. Elective rotations include:

  • Anticoagulation Clinic
  • Bone Marrow Transplant
  • Critical Care-Medical
  • Critical Care-Neuro
  • Critical Care-Neonatal
  • Critical Care-Surgery
  • Emergency Department
  • Hematology/Oncology
  • HIV Clinic
  • Infectious Disease
  • Medicine
  • Nutrition
  • Pain
  • Transplant-Inpatient/Outpatient
