School of Nuclear Medicine Technology

  • Twelve Nuclear Medicine students gave presentations of their scientific abstracts at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Nuclear medicine in Washington, D.C. and the Central Chapter Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine in Chicago last May and June. Four students won awards for their presentations and all were published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

School of Radiation Therapy

  • The class of 2007 graduated 7 students in August, with two graduates hired as therapists by the Radiation Oncology Department. This is the fourth graduating class for the RTT program, and this program is proud to report a 100% pass rate on the national board exam since the school’s inception.

  • Five new students began the program in August 2007.

School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  • The class of 2007 graduated 4 students in December, and all are currently employed in sonography. Two graduates were hired by the Feinberg Ultrasound Department at NMH.

  • Four students were admitted in July 2007.

School of Radiography

  • Radiography student Dan Simcoe has been chosen by the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists (ISSRT) to serve as a student mentor, shadowing a current ISSRT board member at the organization’s annual conference and serving on a committee throughout the year as a student representative. Simcoe was chosen from a statewide pool of students based on his leadership potential, volunteer history and overall level of academic progress. This selection also will help to promote Northwestern Memorial’s Radiography School throughout Illinois.

  • The School of Radiography accepted its first class of 7 students in September 2007.

  • A clinical affiliation is being established with the University of Chicago Medical Center for pediatric clinical rotations.

  • The program’s initial application for accreditation with the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology has been submitted.
