Biographical Sketch:
Jennifer is one of two nurse coordinators for the Atrial Fibrillation Center at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She participates in the care of patients having procedures to treat atrial fibrillation. Jennifer has worked with cardiac surgery patients for the past four years.
After graduating from Loyola University's nursing program in 2000, Jennifer worked as a staff nurse in the Prentice Women's Hospital operating room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Approximately one year after joining the Prentice nursing team, she accepted the position of Resource Coordinator for the Prentice operating room. In her new role, while continuing her clinical responsibilities, she also carried out the administrative tasks of coordinating care of patients with physician staff, triage of patients in need of urgent care, and management of proper staffing for the operating room.
In 2003, Jennifer decided to broaden her clinical skills in the operating room and accepted a position as staff nurse for the cardiac surgery team. She worked directly with the cardiac surgeons, scrubbing and circulating. Jennifer continued to expand her cardiac surgery experience and also worked with the pediatric cardiac patient population at Children's Memorial Hospital. She worked directly with the pediatric cardiac surgeons assisting in the care of those children in need of cardiac surgery. In July 2007, Jennifer assumed her role as the Atrial Fibrillation Nurse Coordinator. She assists in the clinical care and education of patients, as well as research involving the cardiac surgery outcomes database.
Jennifer is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Heart Association, and the Heart Rhythm Society.
