American Cancer Society - Patient Navigation Service

The Patient Navigator Service is a partnership between Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Health Learning Center and the American Cancer Society. This service provides cancer patients and their families counseling as well as the best information and support available. Our health educators and licensed clinical social worker help you find information on specific types of cancer, including early detection, prevention, treatment, staging, clinical trials, new research advances, and medical references and resources. The service can also assist with transportation and lodging during all phases of your diagnosis and treatment.

Our educators help dispel cancer myths by presenting straightforward facts and answers to your cancer-related questions about:

  • Diagnosis and treatment
  • Side effects of treatment
  • Emotions and self-esteem
  • Cancer and intimacy
  • Communication skills
  • Community resources
  • Financial concerns
  • Pain management
  • Nutrition
