American Cancer Society Patient Navigation Services

American Cancer Society Patient Navigation Services are the result of a partnership between Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Health Learning Center and the American Cancer Society. This service provides cancer patients and their families counseling as well as the best information and support available.

Our licensed clinical social worker helps you find information on specific types of cancer, including early detection, prevention, treatment, staging, clinical trials, new research advances, and medical references and resources. The service can also assist with transportation and lodging during all phases of your diagnosis and treatment.

Our American Society Patient Navigator helps to dispel cancer myths with straightforward facts and answers to your cancer-related questions about:

  • Diagnosis and treatment
  • Side effects of treatment
  • Emotions and self-esteem
  • Cancer and intimacy
  • Communication skills
  • Community resources
