Northwestern Memorial Hospital in partnership with Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine is a nationally recognized academic medical center and a major Midwest referral center with more than 1,400 physicians representing virtually every clinical specialty. Patient accommodations include 897 licensed beds between Northwestern Memorial, its Prentice Women’s Hospital and the Stone Institute of Psychiatry.
Northwestern Memorial is noted for its leadership in a number of clinical specialties including cardiothoracic and vascular care, women’s health, oncology, organ and bone marrow transplant, neurology and neurosurgery and orthopaedics. The hospital is affiliated with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, which is one of only 41 National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centers in the nation. The hospital is also a national leader in the areas of radiology, minimally invasive surgery and pain management. Renowned in infection control, it is one of eight Prevention Epicenters of Excellence in the United States sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Northwestern Memorial encompasses nearly three million square-feet of hospital space. This includes the 17-story inpatient Feinberg Pavilion, the 22-story outpatient Galter Pavilion and the new 17-story, facility built for the relocation of its Prentice Women’s Hospital. With over one million square feet under roof, the new Prentice is dedicated to women’s health through all stages of life, including obstetrics, gynecology, oncology and women’s cardiovascular health.
Northwestern Memorial has been recognized as the most preferred hospital in Chicago for nine years running and for many years has consistently ranked among the nation's “Best Hospitals” in a range of specialties as ranked by U.S. News & World Report magazine. For eight years running, Northwestern Memorial has been named to Working Mother magazine’s list of "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers."
Location
Northwestern Memorial Hospital is located just north of Chicago’s “Loop,” between North Michigan Avenue and Lake Michigan. In addition, many affiliated physicians have office locations in Chicago neighborhoods and the surrounding suburbs.
