Physical Activity is good at any age
Many people and older adults use their age as an excuse to avoid physical activity. New research says it’s never too late to reap the benefits of physical activity. A recent report in the Journal of the American Medical Association found physical activity, even at an older age, may help women live longer. The study tracked more than 9,000 women ages 65 and older for 12 years.
Researchers found that women who walked the equivalent of one mile a day decreased their mortality rate by 50 percent compared to sedentary women. The greatest benefits were seen in those over the age of 75. The study also found that active women who stopped their activity developed a mortality rate similar to sedentary women.
Include some type of physical activity daily to prevent disease and maintain your health and quality of life.
