Northwestern Ovarian Cancer Early Detection & Prevention Program

The Northwestern Ovarian Cancer Early Detection & Prevention Program (NOCEDPP) is a collaborative effort between Northwestern Memorial's Gynecologic Oncology, Hematology/Oncology and Surgical Oncology Divisions, Northwestern University and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University to identify those women who are at increased risk for developing ovarian cancer.

Under the direction of Lee Shulman, MD and Diljeet Singh, MD, PhD, the program provides quality innovative care and services through a comprehensive and expert clinical team. The team focuses on cancer prevention, research and the development of new tests to help detect ovarian cancer at an early treatable stage. The Program's most recent research has been to identify cancer for which the CA-125 tumor marker is not reliable.

Women who come to the NOCEDPP will experience the following:

  • An evaluation for inherited predisposition
  • Physical exam
  • Three-dimensional ultrasound
  • CA-125 blood test
  • Counseling
