Infectious Diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of illnesses caused by infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

Conditions treated include:

  • AIDS related malignancies and infections
  • HIV Infection
  • Other infectious diseases
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Travel-related infectious diseases

Infectious diseases consultants assist referring physicians with the management of life-threatening, chronic, or perplexing infections in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Division members also provide expertise on infection control and the appropriate use of antibiotics within the hospital.

Members of the Division of Infectious Diseases also conduct research on the mechanisms of infectious diseases, the prevention of disease transmission and novel antibiotic therapies. The faculty and fellows also see patients in Northwestern Memorial's HIV Center.
