Northwestern Ovarian Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Program (NOCEDPP)
Overview
The Northwestern Ovarian Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Program (NOCEDPP), under the direction of Lee Shulman, MD and Diljeet Singh, MD, is a collaborative effort between National Cancer Institute Northwestern University and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern. The NOCEDPP is both a clinical and a research program.
What is the purpose of the NOCEDP?
The clinical program combines the expertise of gynecologic oncology, genetics, ultrasonography, biochemistry and molecular biology to offer a comprehensive detection program for women at risk for developing ovarian cancer and for women diagnosed with the disease. The NOCEDPP research program is directed at developing tests to detect ovarian cancer earlier, identifying prevention and therapy approaches, and improving the quality of life for women at risk for developing ovarian cancer and for those who have already been diagnosed.
The NOCEDPP provides focused, high-quality innovative care and services for asymptomatic women at increased risk of developing ovarian cancer. The hallmark of the program is the coordinated, multidisciplinary services provided during each comprehensive clinic visit.
The NOCEDPP, along with the sections of Gynecologic Oncology, Hematology/Oncology and Surgical Oncology, have joined forces with the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Cancer Center provides a full range of oncology services and provides access to specialized research, clinical trials and diagnostic services.
