Enjoying your Stay

Since you will be in the hospital for several weeks, we encourage you to bring items that you feel will make your stay more comfortable. Small safes are available to keep your valuables, such as money clips, checkbooks or credit cards. Northwestern Memorial is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

  • Comfortable clothes for daytime, such as jogging pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, button-down shirts and tennis shoes
  • Robe, slippers, pajamas for night
  • Electric or manual personal razor
  • Playing cards and/or board games
  • Family and/or personal pictures
  • Stationery and/or writing paper
  • Wigs, scarf, baseball caps
  • Phone card (for long distance calls)
  • VHS video tapes
  • Toiletry items
  • CD player / CDs
  • Alarm clock
  • Reading material
  • Personal calendar
  • Telephone numbers of friends and family

Visitor Information

  • Visitors should be free of illness when visiting
  • You may have up to three visitors at one time
  • One adult may stay overnight in your room
  • Children may visit as long as they are healthy and accompanied by an adult
  • All visitors must wash hands and wear gloves before entering or touching you

Special Precautions

  • No fresh flowers or plants are allowed
  • No fresh fruit or fresh vegetables are allowed
