Trauma and Critical Surgery

Northwestern Memorial's Trauma and Critical Care Division is an Illinois-designated Level I trauma center that delivers state-of-the-art surgical care to critically ill and injured patients, including:

  • Acute traumatic injuries
  • Colostomy reversal
  • Complex surgical infections
  • Inpatient critical care of surgical patients
  • Post-operative care

 

The division coordinates the multidisciplinary care of trauma patients in conjunction with the departments of Emergency Medicine, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Urology, and Anesthesia. Anesthesiology Consultative services and therapies include:

  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Nutritional support
  • Invasive monitoring
  • Fluid and electrolyte management
  • Therapy of infections
  • Hemodynamic management
  • Emergency interventions
