Dietary Guidelines

Published by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Dietary Guidelines provide nutrition recommendations to promote healthy dietary habits and exercise to reduce the risk of major chronic diseases. Because obesity is increasing among Americans, the 2005 Dietary Guidelines set the standards for healthy living by eating a variety of foods in moderation and participating in regular physical activity.
